We use this word because they <strong>conserve and exhibit the greatest treasures of humanity,<\/strong>objects that were created to be beautiful. This is why the architecture and design of museums is so special. We are very lucky in\u00a0<strong>Granada, <\/strong>because many of our museums are located in <strong>historic buildings<\/strong>. These are places that would certainly deserve to be on display themselves, if their size did not make that impossible. To be frank, we could even claim that <strong>Granada (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ciceronegranada.com\/en\/what-see-granada\/\">Things to do in Granada<\/a>)\u00a0itself is a museum<\/strong>. This may well be the reason why <strong>International Museum Day\u00a0<\/strong>is such an important date in the city. Would you like to know what you can see here?<\/p>\n<h2>What to see on International Museum Day in Granada<\/h2>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3889 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ciceronegranada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/d\u00eda-internacional-de-los-museos-granada-2019-cicerone-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">The important thing about this day is <strong>free entry to museums and other spaces with the same philosophy<\/strong>. What\u2019s new about this year is that we can <strong>do it over two days: the 17 and 18 May.<\/strong>This year\u2019s message is \u201cMuseums as cultural centres\u201d, but bearing in mind that this year we are celebrating the <strong>20th anniversary of the designation of <\/strong><strong>Albaic\u00edn<\/strong> as a <strong>World Heritage Site<\/strong>, this famous district will have special prominence. So much so, that the Granada Social School has enabled the residents of <strong>Albaicin (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ciceronegranada.com\/en\/granada-tours\/albaicin-sacromonte\/\">Tours Albaic\u00edn and Sacromonte<\/a>) <\/strong>to put forward their own ideas.\u00a0<strong>The residents chose the local monument or place that they think should be in a museum<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Besides, the Science faculty and Herbario have organized another visit which goes to the <strong>Roman Pottery of La Cartuja<\/strong>, the <strong>Hospital Real and a route<\/strong> for the monuments associated with the prestigious\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/canal.ugr.es\/noticia\/dia-internacional-de-los-museos-2019-visitas-al-patrimonio-de-la-ugr\/\">Granada <\/a><u>University<\/u>.<\/p>\n<h2>The Alhambra on Museum Day in Granada<\/h2>\n<p role=\"\" align=\"justify\">Alhambra Museum will remain open all day. There will also be conferences and workshops in which visitors can take part in the celebration of <strong>Granada\u2019s artistic heritage<\/strong>. The <strong>workshops for children<\/strong> are especially interesting. They will focus on the Muslim world. The little ones will discover and make <strong>drawings based on the things they learn<\/strong>. They\u2019ll have a great time! It is important that they do, because it is vital for their future to develop an interest in culture when they are still young.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Women will also have a space in <strong>Granada\u2019s Museum Day<\/strong>. On Saturday and Sunday, Lourdes Ru\u00edz L\u00f3pez and Inmaculada \u00c1vila Rojas will talk about Yusuf III, <strong>social classes and women\u2019s role in Al-Andalus<\/strong>. We at <strong>Cicerone<\/strong> are particularly pleased with this idea, because women had a special place in Al-Andalus and it is a subject worth re-examining. Finally, <strong>the Palace of Carlos V<\/strong> will also be the setting for piano and guitar recitals as part of the cycle \u2018the music of words\u2019.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">The Cicerone team will also be celebrating Museum Day. Art is a form of communication, between present and present and between the past and the present. We can get a better understanding of each other through beautiful objects than through words. We would like to invite you to enjoy this day with your family and loved ones.
