{"id":285,"date":"2013-09-11T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2013-09-10T22:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ciceronegranada.com\/alonso-cano-alhambra\/"},"modified":"2021-08-25T08:55:19","modified_gmt":"2021-08-25T06:55:19","slug":"alonso-cano-alhambra","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ciceronegranada.com\/en\/blog\/alonso-cano-alhambra\/","title":{"rendered":"Alonso Cano and his graffiti in the Alhambra&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2779 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ciceronegranada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/alonsocano1520x293.jpg\" alt=\"alonsocano1520x293\" width=\"520\" height=\"293\" \/>The restoration of the <strong>Mirador de Lindaraja viewpoint<\/strong>, by the<strong> Two Sisters Hall <\/strong>in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ciceronegranada.com\/en\/what-see-granada\/alhambra-generalife\/\">Alhambra\u2019s<\/a>Lions Coutyard, has revealed an engraving which reads<em> \u201cAlonso Cano A\u00f1o 1630\u201d<\/em>.\u00a0 It is a piece of graffiti art that Alonso Cano himself could have left inscribed on the walls of the Nasrid compound. This inscription can be found written in the same style that the cheers of the university students were then written, as can be seen on the walls of the Cathedral, close to the first Catholic University of Granada.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2780 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ciceronegranada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/vitorcatedralgranada200x150.jpg\" alt=\"vitorcatedralgranada200x150\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" \/>The Mirador de Linaraja has recently been restored and all of the <strong>plasterwork has been cleaned<\/strong>. It can now be seen in its full glory. We do not know whether or not they knew this inscription existed before the cleaning process. However, after it being completed the inscription is so clear that it cannot be missed by anyone.<\/p>\n<p>The restorers, out of good judgement, left it intact and in its rightful place.
